BEIJING — Alipay has announced the launch of a new service designed to integrate autonomous AI agents into its digital payment ecosystem, according to a company release. The initiative enables "OpenClaw-type" artificial intelligence agents to execute financial transactions directly through the platform, marking a significant shift toward agentic commerce.
The new feature allows sophisticated AI models to act as intermediaries in the purchasing process. Rather than requiring manual user intervention for every step of a transaction, these OpenClaw-style agents can navigate digital storefronts, negotiate terms, and authorize payments based on predefined user parameters. This development aims to bridge the gap between large language model reasoning and real-world economic action, moving beyond simple chatbots toward functional digital assistants capable of managing complex workflows.
The service leverages Alipay’s existing secure payment infrastructure to provide a sandbox for AI agents to interact with merchants. By utilizing the OpenClaw framework, developers can create specialized agents that possess "hand-and-eye" coordination within digital interfaces, allowing them to click, select, and pay as a human user would.
